At the start of 2020, many people asked me what my New Year’s Resolutions were. I told them that I didn’t make any, because I had not achieved many of them in the past. S I had not set hard goals for once, I was not limited by the weight of what I promised myself I would do. In a sense, what I could achieve had no limit.

In the fall, I reached out to my old photography professor, Jamie Gruzska. Doing side projects is very difficult for me but he gave me great advice. To paraphrase him, outside of work when I’m creating art I should try to do the opposite of what I do for work and/or is giving me trial- if I find my work is structured and impersonal then my art should be unstructured and personal. 

I Promise, is the culmination of months of contemplating on his advice.
